Yijun Wang—Talking Colours

This image is like a “conversation” between me and my friend, we took turns adding a stroke to the sketchbook. What we drew is what we saw on the market in Notting Hill these days, we used drawing as a way of communication instead of having a chat as usual.

In the process of this task, I started to observe a concrete object in an abstract manner. Just like the first image what i drew is a scene in a tunnel, the ceiling lights of the tunnel, the road surface and the moving vehicles,I used only colors to express it in blocks. Furthermore, In the middle of this task, I became more concentrate on the different combination of colors and textures of objects, places, food around me, then I realized that the tools for painting can be not just brushes, pencils but all the materials around us, just like my second image which is finished by using a cigarette. Overall, I become bolder in combining extremely different colors, and i would like to try more different materials to draw.
