Maisie Watson – Talking Colour

For the last 2 weeks I have developed a series of unique colour observational drawings, based on everyday life, such as people, buildings, objects and nature. I have created these drawings by observing eye catching colour imagery indoors and outdoors. I have used several different materials to create these designs, such as colour pencils, pastels, watercolour paint, ink, soft pastels and acrylic paint.

I have found this task hard as I’m used to drawing with dark materials such as, charcoal, fine liners and inks. So, restricting myself to only using different tones of colour to create definition and shadow was challenging for me.

This task really opened my eyes to seeing and observing in a different way. I found myself noticing colour everywhere I went, it was almost like it was constantly on my mind searching for objects to draw. It was interesting to see what colour imagery did inspire my designs.
