YOUYOU LI ——taking colour

This task is a good experiment for me, in fact, I was recently isolated in the UK and there are very few materials I can use. I only have acrylic markers, colored pencils and hard crayons, so my challenge is to find more possibilities in these three materials.

My inspiration come from the flower garden below my London apartment. This is the first time I have carefully observed the plants in that flower garden . I found some plants that I have never seen before, which is very interesting.

I sketched near the flower bed. Green and blue are the main colors. Plants are originally green and brown. However, the recent temperature is very low, which reminds me of blue. I think blue can describe the current temperature. , I want people who see the painting to feel the temperature.

I tried a new material. It is a crayon used by children, because when I bought it, it was shown to be suitable for children aged 3-6. This is a very hard crayon. I like to try some tools that children use. , They often can’t focus in detail, sometimes this is exactly what I want. Then I went to the garden  to collect some plants, and I chose some hard hay. I put the hay under the paper and rubbed it with hard crayons, and I got a new effect, which was what I wanted. After that, I used some other materials (acrylic markers, colored pencils) to combine with them for development.
