During this task I found it difficult to stay away from using black pen to outline because usually my style of art consists of both colour and fine liner. Since it’s my style, I feel that I didn’t do too well at staying away from using black pen to outline, however I tried really hard to emphasise that colour was the focal point of my artwork. I think my usage of different media’s was done well in this task because I managed to go out of my comfort zone (for example I used tape, coloured paper, printing with paint, to create blocks of colour). I’m glad this task pushed me to do this because I feel like it was an ice breaker for me being more experimental in the future. I really liked the results of using mixed media because I think it makes the artwork look a lot more complete, and gives it more depth (hence captivates the eye better)
Overall, I feel more confident at the end of this task. At the beginning I felt my drawings looked incomplete- I used a limited range of media for my drawings, for example one of the drawings I posted only uses water colour and pen. i wasn’t satisfied with this one because it looked very flat to me. I feel like i’ve developed my drawings to become more busy and fulfilling towards the end of the task.
For Talking colour Task 1 and 2 you have done a variety of different mark making of sweets in different ways using a few mediums like water colours, paints and markers. The six images produced by the mediums show different content in each paper, it is not like each other, by colour and by looking at it. The strength of your drawing is that I can see what’s been drawn on the page clearly, the details by colour really develop your work even without any 3D outlining, the use of different flat shapes and the different backgrounds makes you focus right onto the artwork. It is very interesting to see the free hand drawing for some of the drawings, this is eye catchy as the tones of the artwork explains it all. One of my favorite drawings is the two artworks full of colours, even though the drawings are basic, no shapes and just lines but I still find it interesting as it creates a mood with all the shades. I truly enjoyed the fact that for some of your recordings your background is collage, where you’ve collaged with different materials and then at the end you’ve done mark making over it in simple shapes and lines, not a lot of details. The thing I didn’t like about your drawings was that I could see a lot of different mediums used for your records, I could only see only a few mediums used like water colours, markers and paints not a range of mediums to drawing as this could have been a good experimentation. Overall, I think I really found your drawings exciting as they were full of colours and not too detailed.
