Priscilla Fung – Ways of Seeing
In this second drawing task we were expected to focus on texture and perspective. I approached the task by trying to add onto previous work- for example the last task was based on colour, this time I focused on both colour and the perspective of what I was drawing.

The project approach and ways of communicating through visual understanding are excellent and it has highly inspired me. I would like to start off with the colour use, clearing you have a great understanding of colours and how to manipulate them into one. Personally I have often struggled with picking the right tones that go along with each other or to complete an atmosphere of contrast.
In the lamppost drawing from primary pictures which you have taken in Chinatown was very exciting. The way you had great use of negative space and the colour contrast within has given me beautiful ideas. Tearing up paper and collage gives it a roughness along with some fine liner on top of bold watercolor and ink creates a comparison.
The use of charcoal is very well done as well and I could see that you have tried to draw out a lot of shapes inspired from various primary images. However, I think perhaps adding some small details within would be an investing development. Creating contrast that way, with bold use of colour yet delicate details somewhere along the prints instead of continuous line drawing with fine liner.
Overall, your ways of seeing have opened up several ideas for me, especially in colour use and the expense of negative space. It showcases confidence.
