Jacob Tucker-Talking Colour
It’s difficult not to make big of a project that defines the start of what I regret to think of as the rest of my life. I know, little bit intense for a two week project. In 150 words imma attempt not to feel too sorry for myself. I didn’t enjoy this project. My inspiration- Orange by Orhan Pamuk- simply led me to a path of disappointment. I couldn’t and didn’t produce any work of note, I would suggest mostly down to my newfound awful time management and tendency to overcomplicate. I hope I have learnt to keep it simple, keep experimenting and stick to my aesthetic guns. As a preliminary and unnecessary excuse my lack of experimentation is down to my lack of (I want to say funding but it really is more like) motive to spend lots of coin on potentially useless equipment. I’m usually digital okay don’t moan. Hope that doesn’t sound as pathetic as it did to write.

For the talking colour task, you’ve challenged yourself to explore possibilities of art making through seeing things around you like windows in you room, trains around you even experiments with photography by using the mirror effects in house. I can see potentials from your drawings, even you claimed it was very difficult to for you to develop ideas from it. Strength of your blogs is, I can really see your style from your drawing; by using simple colour combinations and few lines, you’ve created a whole scene and atmosphere. Your drawings are mostly in warm colours like orange, yellow, combining with white, black and grey. Additionally, the composition of your drawings are very interesting, they are not normal composition like horizontal or vertical. However, I think only drawing and photography couldn’t help you to develop your ideas further, which I think the only weakness of your task is didn’t challenge yourself on exploring more mediums. For you blogs, they are mostly digital drawings and observational drawings, which could show your illustration style, but they could be done for collages as well (if you enjoy working digitally). I think there are more possibility to explore your inspirations, such as thinking about things related to what you see and try to add more details on your drawings. Since the task is about exploring colours, besides trying more mediums, using more colours could also be a good idea. Overall, I liked your blog.
