Ways Of Seeing
I read Ways of Seeing for this task. It was proper enjoyable. Did I decide to use any of its’ essays to direct this project? Nah. I responded to objects in my room by translating their individually elegant and random forms into what now reads like an ode to a bad cubist. In fairness I did properly observe the objects and I was deliberate with each geometric form. I did contemplate and consider how the forms created a pattern not only in my interpretation but in the form itself in its’ natural surroundings. I guess that’s just what a textile student does all the time anyway though. I reckon this task was successful and it helped me better understand how to approach and translate the world around me into compelling textiles.

For ways of seeing task, you developed your previous works by expressing them with geometric form. It is a very interesting way of seeing your works by a new vision, it could help you develop your work into print. I can see you trying to use simple colour blocks for your illustrations, instead of filling the whole page with colours. Just like your works for task1, I can see you enjoy drawing in more of a minimum style, which presented the idea of ‘less is more’. However, for task2 you only focus on a simple objects instead of doing a whole piece of artwork. In my opinion, a full image might be better for an artwork, which requires more details and proper composition of the work to show you ways of seeing. For this task, I think it would be better if you can add a background or more details/texture to your final outcomes. Maybe try to focus on one or two elements, to enlarge, shrink, repeat, even distort to express your ways of seeing it. In additional, adding more details for your drawing would make your image look fine, you could try using different size of pen, adding more fine lines or dots to create textures. Overall, your idea is very interesting.
